Mars/Uranus/North Node
Uranus conjunct North Node in Taurus is being triggered by speedy Mars from mid-July to mid-August bringing unstable, rebellious, accelerated, erratic, and eruptive conditions, rattling our security. This powerful conjunction, exact on August 1st, may activate long-term consequences, especially for the fixed signs. Cries of ‘FREEDOM’ will be heard amid flashy Big Reveals! The earth is becoming increasingly unstable as well, with Uranus conjunct North Node into 2023 and Uranus in earthy Taurus until mid-2025.
The last time this stellium occurred in Taurus was in 1855 when an election was contested over whether Kansas would become a slave or anti-slave state, luring citizens in neighboring states to vote illegally in Kansas. Synchronicity suggests that racial incidents and fraud may affect November’s midterm elections, which will take place under a precarious Lunar Eclipse (secrets hidden from the people) conjunct an eclectic Uranus. This midterm election will likely be full of uncertainty during this perilous time for our democracy!
Venus
While most of the planets seem inclined to want to duke it out, Venus tries valiantly to be the peacemaker. She flirtatiously sextiles Mars on the 5th, trines Neptune romantically on the 8th, and faces Pluto’s powerful control on the 9th. Then she enters light-hearted Leo on the 12th and trines expansive Jupiter on the 18th. However, when she squares unruly Uranus on the 27th, alliances may be broken.
Full Moon
The Aquarius Super Full Moon occurs on July 12th in most of the world, but it shines over the USA on the evening of August 11th. The chart reveals a challenging Grand Square: Mars/Uranus/North Node square the Sun in Leo, square the South Node in Scorpio, square Moon conjunct Saturn in Aquarius, all sparking projection, obscuration, excuse, blame, or denial in the face of uncomfortable truths.
Looking at the Astrocartography chart for the Full Moon, the Mars IC line crosses the Pluto Ascending line over Yellowstone National Park, the home of a smoldering super-volcano, ready to erupt sometime this millennium, while the Uranus/North Node/IC lines are further west over Spokane, WA running due south through Los Angeles and San Diego where they also cross the Pluto ascending line. This probably means the western US and Canada could experience some earth rumblings or extreme heat waves mid-August! The ascending version stretches through the Atlantic Ocean, over the place where hurricanes develop, west of the African bulge, so a doosy of a hurricane might make US landfall this August as well.
Reset
After the Full Aquarian Moon peaks, the energy settles a bit. On August 14th the Leo Sun opposes Saturn in Aquarius, a good time to review our plans after the shakeup/breakdown. Mercury trines the North Node on the 16th so we can reappraise where we stand. Then for a few days, moods lighten as Venus trines Jupiter on the 18th, which feels pretty good! Mars enters Gemini on the 21st likely letting fly gossip, accusations, and scandals until Mercury trines Pluto on the 23rd, when chatter grows even louder amid new revelations. Then on the 24th Uranus stations retrograde, the last of the outer planets to do so, joining Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Neptune and Pluto in retrogradation. Progress slows down to a crawl as issues get bogged down, at least until the Eclipse Season in late October and early November.
It’s only the personal planets that are direct now. This means that life goes on. We can guide our own personal paths as we see fit, despite upheavals and setbacks in our world. So pick yourself up, shake off the dust, and consider new options.
New Moon
On August 27th, the Virgo New Moon initiates the monthly solar reboot as Mercury enters Libra, inspiring us to rethink those plans which have been thrown into disarray. Mars trines Pluto and Mercury as numerous investigations require both speed and attention to detail. Women come under assault again as gentle Venus opposes strict Saturn in another Grand Square with the Nodes and Uranus from Aug 22nd to the 28th. Old, outdated excuses and practices reopen the patriarchal wounds of yesteryear as ‘Amerika’ forsakes its females and loses its pre-eminence in the world – in health, education, civil rights and equalities, while Justice panders to the rich and powerful, who arrogantly swear off accountability.
Such disintegration of our principles as a once-great nation may be happening to shake us (Uranus) out of our lethargy and turn things around before power and greed suck all the life out of our biosphere and our humanity. This means we must address climate change, and it means we must fix those broken systems that make it nearly impossible to do so and to govern effectively.
The challenge of such times is to remain calm and peaceful within, despite the intensity of outer activities going on. We must re-energize spiritual and creative practices that strengthen us, and learn to live from our center, facing our fears head-on so they cannot unseat us in a crisis. Hold your head high and face the future bravely!
