We start March with Pluto trining the North Node in Taurus all month, promoting structural and transformational reform in systems that are currently dysfunctional! Meanwhile Mars and Venus are still traveling together, amping up each other’s ego, while visiting Pluto for about a week, also while trining the North Node. We feel energized (or adrenalized), while financial uncertainty looms in the background, especially with talk of sanctions on Russia. Fill up your gas tank!
Mars, the courageous warrior, is exalted and feels empowered in Capricorn, especially in partnership with Pluto! Pluto brings stamina for the long haul, while Mars hustles away in a week or so. The classic symbolism of Mars conjunct Pluto is WAR, and Putin is feeling it! Anxiety is high!
New Moon in Pisces
The Pisces New Moon happens on March 2nd conjunct lucky Jupiter, bringing blessings and opportunities! Jupiter in Pisces (until May 10th) is such a delicious time of intuitive connection, forgiveness, compassion, and unconditional love. We can explore our spiritual values and beliefs, learn to trust again, be creative and musical, express idealism, practice spirituality, and show humanitarian concern for others. But Pisces also marks the end of the zodiac, so it brings karmic completions, significant endings, and exhausted release. Let go of the old and familiar to make way for the yet-to-be-discovered and new.
Uranus also sextiles this New Moon, exploding opportunities for personal growth and inspiration on one side, while stirring the pot of disruption and chaos on the other. Mercury conjuncts Saturn in Aquarius, stimulating the intellect to manifest a workable plan or project. With such strong positive energies, this is an excellent time to set your intensions for the month(s) ahead by lighting a candle while stating your intentions, to anchor them.
Aquarius
On March 6th Mars and Venus enter Aquarius together, joining Mercury and Saturn. Venus will be more aloof than usual, so give her space. Mars might be spontaneous and impulsive, but less effective after having left Capricorn, where he was exalted. But his fiery nature feeds on the AIR of Aquarius, an unconventional, impersonal, and mentally stimulating sign that fosters intellectual conversations.
Pisces
Mercury squares the North Node on March 7th (faulty decisions) and enters Pisces on the 9th, becoming more spacey and imaginative, and also possibly more confused. This ranges from fantasy writing to conspiracy theories, high spirits to wrong reasoning, as Mercury pulls away from Saturn on its way to joining over-the-top Jupiter on the 21st. Mercury-conjunct-Jupiter is prone to overly anticipatory thinking, publishing opportunities, it’s a writer’s boon, and by the time Mercury enters Aries on the 28th, he’s moving full speed ahead, so our mental activities and communications may shift from sluggish in mid-March to quick by early April.
Full Moon in Virgo
The Full Moon in Virgo occurs on March 18th opposite the Pisces Sun. Virgo Moon, is in a practical earth sign. It is known for attention-to-detail and organizing, which means it’s a good time to clean house, organize your files, do your taxes, follow through on your plans, or make some new ones. Pluto’s continuing trine with the Nodes opens new doors of consciousness, solidifying our destiny in a positive way.
Spring Equinox
On March 20th, two days after the Full Moon, the Sun reaches the ‘Aries Point’, the starting degree of the zodiac, marking the beginning of spring in the North. As the degree of initiation, Zero Aries packs a potent punch!
Sun and Mercury cross the Aries Point this month, boosted with the energies from the Equinox, making this an excellent time to begin a new diet, a new job, a new love, a new life! With all planets moving forward til May 2nd, despite the international turmoil, you CAN move forward in your personal lives this month. Venus, Jupiter, and Mars will all cross the Aries Point in May, continuing to futher our growth processes.
However, there are some difficulties coming in with this Equinox, which sets the tone for the whole year, to some degree. Saturn is beginning to square the Nodes for several months (serious issues need to be addressed!) while Venus and Mars together square Uranus, stirring up restlessness, social tensions, rebellious actions, and more calls for FREEDOM! On the 21st, Venus-Mars is T-squared by an excitable Scorpio Moon-opposite-Uranus, igniting an insistence on change NOW! Then Mercury mind-melds with dissolving Neptune and sextiles the North Node on the 24th, and Pluto on the 26th. These outer planets take our thoughts DEEP within, but in a supportive manner, so welcome their probes.
It’s hard to see on the Equinox Astrocartography map, but a Sun line runs through Moscow. Putin is winning and will succeed in his aims. A Neptune line runs through Ukraine, where there is a high degree of uncertainty and confusion. Mercury and Jupiter lines run through Poland and the Baltic countries, who are on the alert, in discussions with each other, but they have strong backing of a united NATO. The North Node line runs through France but is close to London also, which I interpret as Macron of France as the current leader of the EU with close consultations with the UK. This all seems true to what we are seeing in the news!
Let’s take a look at Australia and New Zealand. Victoria west of Melborne may suffer some sort of tragedy with Pluto Rising on the Equinox, which could indicate extreme fires, or something seismic, although it could also be a mine collapse or a sewage leak, or something else unfortunate with loss of life. Southern New Zealand and the south Pacific Island areas may continue to experience earthquakes and other seismic activity this year. Mongolia, the Himalayas, and western USA look to be seismically active as well, with some more Tonga eruptions as Uranus + Saturn clash in those regions.
Venus stumbles a bit during the last days of the month, as she finally breaks free from Mars, after an extremely long conjunction! So, while she ponders her preferences – last month’s romantic fling or this month’s independence from Mars – clarify for yourself, do you want relationship or independence, togetherness or to live alone? Make your choice AFTER the Equinox. And, if you want BOTH, then you will have to create a balance, but with NO planets in Libra, this may be difficult. Once you have made your decision, let it go. Then allow yourself to luxuriate in a restful sleep, full of visionary dreams.
