Trump’s Acquittal
On Feb 13th Donald Trump was acquitted of inciting the violent attack on our Capitol in DC on Jan 6th, his last-ditch effort to overthrow an election he lost by 7 million votes! These were two sad days for America that tore the guts out of our democracy and pushed us further down the chute of global irrelevance. Most Republican Senators at the Impeachment Trial, ever obsequious to Trump, were incapable of impartiality. They hid behind their oaths “to defend and protect” the Constitution (but apparently NOT elected officials nor government buildings) as their reason for acquittal. Their cowardice condemned our country to more autocracy and mob violence yet to come.
When Republican Senators let the insurrectionist x-president off the hook with a 43 to 57 guilty vote (but not enough to “convict”), while Neptune was opposite the Moon and squaring the Nodes (deception, anxiety and self-interest clashed), Trump’s “Big Lie” – that the election was stolen – was the fuel that ignited that violent assault on our Capitol. But the disingenuous Republican Party refused to hold Trump accountable. AGAIN!
Breakthrough
Good News! March looks like a breakthrough month. All planets are moving forward (no retrogrades) and planetary harmonies are plentiful in this month’s astro charts. Mercury-conjunct-Jupiter trines the Nodes on March 1st, bringing greater clarity and understanding to our national dilemmas. An extreme-declination Mars trines Pluto those first few days, amping up our physical energy. Extreme acts are possible, so don’t overdo it! Sun-conjunct-Venus receives a creative surge from Uranus, whose restless agitation is calmed in return. Jupiter departs Saturn (restriction), progressing forth into more promising adventures with Mercury (expanding our minds).
New Moon
For the first 12 days of the month, Sun then Venus squares the Nodes. We are sorting out our thoughts and feelings about last month’s Impeachment and Acquittal ordeal and the attack of January 6th. Thankfully, the heaviness lifts as the New Moon brings a shift in energy on the 13th. Saturn positively aspects the Nodes, promising that after delays, review, and hard work, solid accomplishments can be achieved. Saturn-trines-Mars (effort, diligence and perseverance furthers) while Mars-sextiles-Chiron (new studies are energized). An excitable Mars, working harmoniously with Saturn, also conjuncts the North Node, amplifying forward-looking plans. The flow into new realities that we have been envisioning has begun!
Saturn square Uranus
The setback aspect of the month is Saturn’s first square to Uranus. Uranus brings exciting out-of-the-box innovation and futuristic technologies, but Saturn’s traditional mindset blocks and slows the undeniable imperative for evolutionary change. As frustration builds, Saturn tightens the reins in response to Uranian disruptions of the status quo, which likely will continue through the summer, easing in the fall, only to return for Christmas (so shop early).
Nationally, our democracy has been destabilized by insurrection and far-right extremism gone “wild”. White Supremacists, militia renegades, and domestic terrorists, along with Donald Trump have left a nasty epitaph to the world that makes Putin and Erdogan snicker with delight, while Macron sheds a tear as “the American experiment” lurches.
Spring Equinox
March 20th marks the Solar New Year when the Sun crosses the powerful Aries Point and begins a new journey around the zodiac. It represents the beginning of outward manifestation and brings determination and ambition to the fore. As the Sun forms a union with Chiron, wide-spread vaccinations bring hope to the world that we can soon reclaim spontaneity over isolationism.
The Equinox chart features all the transiting planets on one half of the zodiac. The US East Coast has them all on the left side of the chart with 4 planets and 3 asteroids jammed into the first house. So some sort of self-focus, either personal growth OR narcissism can occur for Easterners. The West Coast looks more dire, with Saturn and Pluto in the first house, so personal hardships are possible this year out west.
Pluto (destruction and loss), Mars (conflict, rebellion, and war), and Eris (strife and discord to accomplish evolutionary change) are all in harsh aspect to Vesta (representing family, hearth, tradition, and spiritual practices). Expect global weather upsets and social disruptions to continue to impact families and “believers” around the world.
Astrocartography
The global Astrocartography Map for the Equinox reveals some areas of vulnerability related to the Saturn, Uranus and Pluto lines: Central Mexico and the US Midwest (the breadbasket), from New Orleans to west Texas and north into Canada where storms, arctic cold snaps, tornadoes, electrical anomalies, droughts and/or floods may debilitate the land and disrupt food and vaccine supply chains. (Witness the cold snap that devastated Texas and knocked out its power for several days in February!)
Internationally sensitive areas include Miramar (coup d’etat), Iran (nuclear issues), and western Africa (political unrest?). Geophysically, the South Pacific Island region that lies north of New Zealand and Australia can expect seismic activity to continue, even north to Japan (like the Fukishima 10-years-after shock that rattled Tokyo with a 7.0 earthquake on Feb 13th, shortly after Trump was acquitted.)
Full Moon
Creativity blossoms under the Full Moon of March 28th. Chiron conjuncts the independent Aries Sun, bringing ideas that uplift others. Intellectual challenges (Mercury conjunct Neptune), grand schemes (Jupiter in Aquarius), and a dash of adventure (3 “planets” in Aries in the 9th house) are all welcome. As Mars joins the North Node (acceleration), an imperfect Grand Hexagram forms between Mars/NN, Saturn and Moon, harmoniously intersected by Sun trine South Node and the Ascendant – an auspicious sign in the heavens to be sure!
