New Year’s Day realization came a bit late: 2022 is “The Year of Awakening” as our evolving CONSCIOUSNESS lifts the veil on widespread lies and betrayals this year, revealing those who are false prophets. This is largely fueled by Jupiter-in-Pisces with its expansion of TRUTH, its warm feelings toward others, plus a peaceful dose of spirituality (or a shot of confusion and delusion) as Jupiter conjuncts Neptune in April, sparking magic! This year will be active, unpredictable, unsettling, and challenging. But progress can be made, and HOPE wants to be renewed!
Excess Water

Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars will all join Jupiter and Neptune in Pisces for weeks during the first 5 months of 2022, raising a lot of water issues. Expect heavy rains, floods, massive snows, tsunamis, huge storms, super high tides, as well as potential magma floes. Dams and levees may fail, and polluted water or sewage could spill while the South Node is in Scorpio, the water sign ruled by PLUTO!
With all these water disasters likely to occur this winter and spring, Colorado and many points west, which are suffering from drought, may get a reprieve and hopefully receive some moisture soon. Most of the damage is expected along coastal areas, some perhaps in the midwest, but especially in the South, and Northeastern United States.
Year of the Water Tiger

2022 is also “The Year of the Water Tiger” in Chinese Astrology, which begins on February 1st this year. Tiger years are full of passion, zest-for-living, taking the initiative, intense emotions, big decisions, powerful leadership, and a sense of urgency that leads to quick, and often impulsive action. This can be bold, ferociously rebellious, or explosively angry. It’s a year when situations can change “on a dime”, excitement reigns, and many of our dreams can be actualized.

The WATER element (yes, plenty of water!) in astrology means highly emotional, sensitive, impressionable, and creative. So, a “Water Tiger” year brings wild emotions, exciting dramas, promising innovation, and outrageous adventures. Be courageous enough to take a risk and step into the unknown, like the Fool in Tarot. With expansive Jupiter-in-Pisces (that it rules), it’s time to make a difference.
SO GO BIG!
Uranus

The most active planet this year will be Uranus, direct since mid-January, triggering unpredictable and sudden changes, along with the shocking chaos, revelations, and disruptions. 2021 was governed by hardline Saturn, holding Uranus in check by square. In 2022, Uranus holds the power, especially mid-summer, when conjunct the Taurus North Node, which could bring about far-reaching Earth changes. Excess WATER plus unsettled EARTH plus LIGHTNING (Uranus) combines destructive climatic elements across the planet this year. But Uranus will also ignite societal struggles around freedom, rebellion, protest, trans-gender, ‘foreigners’, aliens, and ‘the unexpected’.
Venus + Mars

Venus is now direct in Capricorn since the final days of January while in a tight trine with Uranus, which continues throughout most of February, igniting new encounters, romantic or otherwise. Mars catches up to Venus on the 13th, just in time for a delightful romantic Valentine’s tryst. However, there might be some lingering bad feelings about something that happened in haste on the 6th when Mars squared Chiron, aggravating old wounds. But it’s quite possible that, with a generous show of affection, sincerity, and devotion, wounded hearts can be won back this month. And Mars-in-Capricorn, exalted and ambitious, might be able to initiate some governmental, corporate, or public works restructuring as well.
Mercury + Pluto

Mercury in Capricorn is the final planet to go direct on February 4th, enhancing rational thinking. However, Mercury trines the North Node in Taurus while conjuncting Pluto on the 12th, dredging up scandalous news, sexual secrets, or dire financial reports. Meanwhile, Mars-conjunct-Venus trines Uranus, which makes for surprising news or shocking events, although potentially positive.
Full Moon

The Full Moon on February 16th forms a Fixed Grand Square at 28 degrees Aquarius-Sun & 28 Leo-Moon square the Nodes (28 degrees Taurus-Scorpio) with no other major aspects to the Lunation, suggesting that ‘destiny is at stake’. We may have ‘lost our way’ as a nation, with many obstacles ahead, but with Mars-conjunct-Venus and Jupiter-sextile-Uranus mid-month, plus Pluto-trine-North Node, expect some encouraging developments. And all planets will remain direct for 3 months, which is especially good for forward motion toward our goals, in our lives, and our projects.
Meanwhile the Sun enters Pisces on February 18th, joining Jupiter and Neptune, increasing intuitive sensitivity, enhancing spiritual practices, furthering imaginative pursuits, and activating mystical-magical moments, but also proliferating addictions, confusions, misunderstandings, deception, conspiracy theories, and mental health crises. The paths we take may depend a lot on subconscious patterns, but remember that “you create your own reality” and the final point of choice is always YOURS.
SO, GO HIGH!
The US Pluto Return

Pluto will return to its natal position in the US National Astrological Chart, at 27 degrees Capricorn, ~2 ½ centuries after our nation was founded. This conjunction of transiting Pluto to it’s own natal position at the moment of ‘birth’ on July 4, 1776, (called a return) will occur 3 times in 2022: on February 20th, on July 11th, and on December 28th. This is the over-riding aspect of the year and it involves our aspirations, accomplishments, successes, and failures as a nation. It will also test our tolerance for CHANGE.
With Pluto-in-Capricorn, we can expect transformations within world governments, corporations, and other large systems. Because the Pluto point of 27 Capricorn falls in the 2nd house, this implies that our national values are at stake, and our financial institutions and currency are likely to be severely impacted. Serious economic setbacks may ignite chaos in our banking system, infecting the entire tumbling global economy. New systems will come forth to improve upon and replace what is no longer working.
However in February, Jupiter trines the Sibley-US Sun (inner wheel), with Uranus (in the outer wheel of transits) at their midpoint while sextile to both, so for a few months, we may be lucky and things could go relatively well for awhile, but don’t expect that luck to last all year… The second half of the year looks more difficult and potentially tumultuous. Jupiter leaves Pisces and enters ARIES in May, joined by Mars. Upheaval. The 2nd Pluto return comes in July and Jupiter goes retrograde. Markets tumble, Banks crumble. By Halloween when eclipse season rolls around, Saturn is square Uranus one last time. Covid surge. November’s lunar eclipse Moon conjuncts Uranus at the midterm election. All hell breaks loose. December closes out the year with the final Pluto Return just after Jupiter crosses the Aries Point and leaves Pisces for good, while Uranus dances with the North Node into 2023. Revolution threatens!
PLUTO TIMES are an excellent time to ponder… your purpose, your life direction, inner examinations of negative beliefs to release, connecting with your Soul, your dreams, and figuring out what truly makes you happy…
SO GO DEEP!
We are at a crossroads in history, entering deeper into a huge transitional battle between dark forces that seek to wrest control, and a whole new and higher frequency Earth, that seeks to be born. We can expect to be profoundly tested around issues pertaining to our democracy, our economy, and our collective mental health as a nation this year. Threats of civil war are seeping into the cracks within our society and extreme divisiveness is rampant. And yet, with Jupiter-in-Pisces for much of this year, we can be creative, expansive, productive, entrepreneurial, and inspirational, while contributing within our communities to positive prospects, remaining hopeful that we, our democracy and our planet will survive these challenging times!
