We are transitioning through the 100-year cusp of a 2,160-year Age shift, now preceding backwards from the “Piscean Age” into “the Age of Aquarius” – just as the song by that name promised back in 1969 when we were first entering this intersection of the Ages. Over 50 years later, we are deeper into this period of overlap as 2021 extols the union of Jupiter (an expansive visionary) and Saturn (a slow-but-steady builder) in Aquarius, during a once-in-2,640 year Great Mutation as the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction switches into Air signs – heralding a huge RESET on multiple levels. We are in the throes of this major transition, as the New Age of Enlightenment beacons with innovation and eventually cooperation.
This is good news, although such transitions are notoriously bumpy. We are being challenged to initiate new ideas and solutions, not to retrofit old themes that are no longer working. However, residues from old Age thinking still need to be dealt with. We are slowly climbing a rollercoaster, and hesitating at the tippy top before barreling down a giant slope… into the REAL Aquarian Age. However, this transitional cusp may encompass our entire lifetime, for we are the Bridge Builders of the Future. In 2021, forward movement toward the promised “Golden Age” begins in earnest.
Earth and climate changes are likely to be quite serious during this Great Shift of ~100 years! It’s hard to say exactly what lies ahead, or when things will happen in preparation for the re-build, so we had best be prepared for anything! Think about potential contingency plans – for fire, flood, wind or earthquake; tsunami, volcano, solar anomalies, or eviction could threaten your home. Special warnings for those living along the seismically active Pacific Ring of Fire. This decade will spawn great transformations and trans-locations, as many families and individuals will be forced to wander and move, seeking safety and a new home.
So be prepared for massive changes this decade, and be grateful for what you have right now, however diminished it may seem to be for many. The disintegration begins with class divisions and political-social animosity; it continues with COVID constraints; and these are likely to be followed by diverse climate changing upheavals throughout our country, continent and world. Perhaps a public “First Contact” event will open our eyes to wider and wilder possibilities. Prepare yourself mentally to survive any eventuality!
2020 began with the Saturn/Pluto conjunction of January and a tough eclipse season. Then around the March Equinox, Mars joined Jupiter, then Pluto for its first pass, activating a COVID surge in the USA that peaked in April as the virus began to spread throughout the world. From May 2020 to March 2021, Neptune has been squaring the Moon’s Nodes, signaling that misinformation has kept Americans in confusion about many things, including the pandemic. Is it a threat or a hoax? Confusion and controversy around masks and vaccines, freedom and rights, and whose “truth” to believe, have further enabled and expanded the viral spread.
Another Jupiter/Pluto conjunction spiked a second COVID wave in July. Mars squared “heavies” Pluto and Saturn in August before turning retrograde and then squaring them again in October, amplifying the pandemic’s alarming sweep westward, which was still met with resistance and denial. By November, the 3rd and final Jupiter/Pluto conjunction, along with the 3rd Mars-square-Pluto aspect, skyrocketed COVID cases to super shocking heights in December. Meanwhile, job losses and “main street” economies faltered badly, causing wide-spread hunger, suffering and more deaths than during all of WWII, or a “9/11” worth of deaths each day!
Over the first 2 weeks of January, the Sun will conjunct and pass over Pluto, further heightening the intensity and possibly destructive nature of this period leading up to the inevitable Inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on January 20th.
Electoral College Dispute
Trump in tweets has called for his supporters to pour into the streets of DC (“be there. will be wild”) to protest what they contend was a “stolen election” without a shred of evidence to back up that charge, except allegiance to the petulant power-monger in the White House, who continues to defy the ACTUAL election results while denying the Constitutional transition of power, established democratically by counting votes in a national election. Said results have been recounted in several cases and still remain firmly in the Biden camp. Trump’s legal challenges have all been thrown out of court as baseless accusations without factual evidence to back them up. Now at the last moment, some Republicans are jumping ship before the Trumps sink beneath the waves, into a more underground, less scrutinized shadow life (Democrats hope).
However, a dramatic war is about to take place, both in Congress and in our streets, as the fight for democracy targets our troubled Capital this January, leading up to Trump’s inelegant departure from the White House.
These are not idle threats as the astrological charts for January are laden with potential for chaos and violence. The waning quarter Libra Moon (upholder of justice) is squared by the Capricorn Sun-conjunct-Pluto (compulsive power grabs, authority challenged) while Neptune in Pisces squares the Moon’s Nodes in Gemini/Sagittarius at 18-19 degrees of the mutable signs. Misinformation and conspiracy theories rage on while a possibly violent wave of defiant Republicans are mislead by their inattentive Leader, the King of Lies. He has convinced them that the election was stolen, and out of unrequited loyalty, his base will fight fiercely on his behalf.
Mars, facing its final test at 29 degrees Aries on January 6th, squares Pluto (a high energy assault), squares Mercury (angry arguments), squares Saturn (irritating blockages), and squares Jupiter (reckless behaviors and disregard for law and order) – all while Mars moves into conjunction with Uranus (reckless rebellion) while squaring Jupiter (striking out against the system) and Saturn (tense disruptions). It’s a recipe for potential disaster!
On January 7th Mars leaves Aries, the sign it rules, and enters Taurus, ruled by its nemesis, gentle Venus, which may calm his tempestuous nature somewhat while increasing his stubbornness. Toxic masculinity will be exposed as a complex cultural issue this year, although not for the first time. Meanwhile, men seeking healing (Chiron-in-Aries) may glimpse their gentler sides with curiosity, open their hearts, and learn to wield power with integrity rather than aggression, while remaining stalwart and true to their masculinity. Bullies will be outed.
Mercury enters Aquarius on January 8th until mid-March, slowing down as it approaches its retrograde station at the end of the month. The Sun too enters Aquarius on Inauguration Day, adding further “Aquarian resonance” throughout 2021. Aquarian energies are high-minded and intellectual, innovative and original, unique to eccentric, supportive of equal justice and fair dealings, while exhibiting generosity towards those in need, totally consistent with the incoming administration’s humanitarian focus.
Approaching Inauguration Day
The January 13th New Moon conjuncts Pluto, adding intensity to already extreme partisanship. By Inauguration Day, January 20th, Mars conjuncts Uranus (rash behaviors), while squaring Saturn (galling rules) and Jupiter (recklessness), indicating that potentially violent protests are likely to erupt in the streets of Washington DC, and possibly elsewhere, getting worse after dark when a fierce Tauran Moon joins Mars and Uranus, amplifying revolt and emotionally-charged clashes between Trump and Biden supporters.
A parallelogram of 2 squares shows Neptune- square-North Node (realizations of betrayal) and Moon-square-Sun (inner discord) along with Mars-square-Jupiter (baseless optimism or impulsive action). These evolve into Moon-trine-Sun (integration) on the 23rd while Venus-sextile-Neptune, brings some harmony back into our relationships for a few days. However, with a Gemini Moon crossing the North Node, still squaring Neptune, don’t expect to hear many words of reconciliation until after the Spring Equinox.
The Full Moon of January 28th shows contradictory influences that continue to encourage chaos, with Jupiter and Saturn hugging the Sun (suggesting future-vision and good planning), while squaring Mars and Uranus, which may generate more social upheaval. At the end of January, Venus embraces Pluto, sparking further relationship intensity and depth before joining Sun, Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury (about to turn retrograde) – so 5 planets in Aquarius lead us into early February.
January looks tough but the shift IS happening, promising that better days lie ahead, despite the rocky road we tread.
