Lunar Eclipse – June 5th
Every 6 months we experience an eclipse season and the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on June 5th is a doosey! The Sun-opposed-Moon (returning to work versus staying safe at home) forms a difficult T-square to transiting Mars-conjunct-Neptune in Pisces, generating the desire to return to normal conditions and get on with our lives while also feeding discouragement, frustration, anger, and an inability to do anything useful. This is a debilitating aspect that will last until (and possibly beyond) June 21st and the New Moon Solar Eclipse – when Neptune stations to retrograde motion (backwards) causing these 2 planets (Mars and Neptune) to separate further.
Although Sun and Moon move quickly out of their opposition and square aspects, an eclipse’s influence usually lasts 6 months until the next eclipse season; thus, eclipses have a much longer impact than their aspects portend. Because this eclipse is so destructive, we are lucky that July gives us a third eclipse which will replace this one as the lunar eclipse that defines the next half year (to be discussed next month). But the entire month of June represents a setback due to trying to open too soon without effectively testing and tracking.
Mars / Neptune
Sun-square-Mars during this eclipse feeds ego conflicts, challenges, and impatience, while Sun-square-Neptune drains energy, leaving us fatigued and discouraged by circumstances beyond our control. Moon-square-Mars increases moody irritability, leading to needless disputes, hastiness, and rash actions, which further fuels the setback. Certainly, tensions and grievances need to be expressed, but our focus tends toward petty annoyances rather than the true causes of our distress with a weakened Mars in watery Pisces. Nonetheless, ANGER will mount abundantly this month! So, try to find non-hurtful ways to let off steam.
Moon-square-Neptune can also bring serious delusions due to not thinking clearly. Be warned that decisions made this month may be faulty as subconscious influences distort one’s view of reality. Addictions and suicides will likely increase as well. Also watch out for con-men who target our desperate need for income. Only selfless actions in service of others (“good” Neptune energy) can be trusted now!
During the eclipse, Mars squares retrograde Venus-conjunct-Sun, as well as squaring the eclipse Moon, making sexuality more demanding and aggressive. This aspect is a bad omen for strained relationships! Lack of self-control coupled with sexual frustration can lead to increased hostility as some give too little in relationship, while disagreements, self-pity, and envy arise, further aggravated by sheltering-in-place. Venus will “disappear” from the sky this month as she becomes obliterated within the rays of the Sun, so her calming and harmonizing influence is reduced. It is NOT safe to take risks this month!
This aspect also brings more economic volatility in the markets, as well as increased emotional discomfort, angry protests, armed skirmishes, and possible threats of war. Laziness, gluttony, shameless immorality, and sexual indiscretions can also result, usually followed by regret.
Sometimes old lovers or new karmic connections show up when Venus is retrograde but wait until after June 25th (when Venus goes direct) or better yet, after July 29th (Venus’ shadow period) before investing, initiating new projects, or solidifying new relationships. While Venus is retracing her steps in shadow, back to 22 degrees Gemini, it is a good time to love yourself and to reflect on what truly gives you pleasure so you can better manifest personal happiness and compatible relationships into a more harmonious future. Don’t despair!
Summer Solstice and Solar Eclipse – June 20/21st
The afternoon of June 20th marks the Summer Solstice in northern climes. It celebrates maximum light (but also forecasts increasing darkness, which during a pandemic seems eerily ominous). The Solstice is followed 9 hours later by June’s critical Solar Eclipse (also occurring at zero degrees Cancer, an Aries Point with high impact on worldly events). Both the Solstice and Eclipse Sun and Moon are inconjunct Saturn – which means continual adjustments, restructuring, and delays over the next 6 months will be necessary to alleviate social and business constraints.
Cancer is the sign of fertility and agriculture, but a zero-degree Cancer eclipse suggests that food shortages will likely continue. Grow your own food if you can and share with others!
In late June, Sun conjuncts Mercury which squares Chiron (a painful revelation) while debilitating Mars/Neptune T-squares the Moon’s Nodes on the brink of an Aries Point. Our futures are being compromised by mismanagement, incompetence, and delusions leading to general misunderstanding and suffering. Mercury-square-Chiron says that we still do not understand COVID-19, while it continues to unravel our lives, our institutions, and our dreams. Deaths continue to rise, surpassing 100,000 Americans lost by June 1, 2020.
Jupiter / Pluto in Capricorn
Jupiter in Capricorn signals an abundance of caution, while Pluto rules death and the underworld. On the last day of June, Jupiter will exactly conjunct Pluto (the second of three passes), while both planets are retrograde. We need a deeper analysis to comprehend how our world is changing, and what we can do to create safe business and school openings. Appreciate the positives that have come about (cleaner air and water, deeper connections despite separation, and a sort of spiritual renaissance). Reflect. Explore numerous possibilities for our most beneficial future. Breathe in empowering thoughts and envision yourself on the New Earth. Open your heart and stay safe!
